In a tight game it was the Cleveland Buckeyes 4, the San Francisco Golden
Seals 2 at Dimaggio Field.
Cleveland scored 2 runs in the 6th inning. The highlight belonged to Stan
Musial who silenced Dimaggio Field as he bombed a two-run dinger (his 1st of
the season). Cleveland ended up with 11 hits for the game while San
Francisco had 4.
Dick Ellsworth(2-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Bobby
Shantz earned the save, his 3rd. Juan Marichal(0-2) was charged with the loss.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Larry Reeves said after the game. 'Ellsworth did not have command
of his pitches most of the night, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
