Luis Aparicio had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Chicago River Dogs beat the
Sacramento River Cats by a score of 6 to 1.
In the top of the 2nd inning Chicago scored 3 runs with the help of 3 hits.
After an out was recorded, John Callison began the Chicago spurt when he
doubled. Felix Mantilla stepped up to the plate and he was walked
intentionally. Jim Pagliaroni then drew a walk to load the bases. Aparicio
followed and he slapped a single resulting in a run. Dean Chance stepped
into the box and slapped a base-hit plating another run. Ty Cline joined his
teammates in the uprising and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of
the inning. That early scoring held up. Chicago had 11 hits for the night
while Sacramento had 8.
Chance(1-1) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Jim
Bunning(1-1) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 4 runs and 9 hits in 7 innings.
