Jim Bouton took a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the San Francisco Golden
Seals defeated the Sacramento River Cats by a score of 2 to 0 at Dimaggio Field.
Bouton(1-0) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 1 hit and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings. The right-handed Bouton lost his
no-hit bid when Don Blasingame singled with one out in the 7th inning. The
pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as neither team was able to score
again.
Hoyt Wilhelm recorded the save, his 1st. Turk Farrell(0-1) was given the
loss. He couldn't find the strike zone and allowed 8 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
