Wes Parker went deep as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Hartford Dark
Blues by the score of 1 to 0 at Forbes Field.
Pittsburgh claimed the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated run.
After an out was recorded, Parker blasted a solo shot (his 1st of the
season). That scoring would be all that was needed. Hartford threatened in
the 9th but Pittsburgh was able to put down the rally.
Larry Jackson(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 7 innings. Jackson got
relief help from Lindy McDaniel who gained credit for his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to George Brunet(0-1). He surrendered just 2 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
