Felipe Alou smashed 2 homeruns at Angel Stadium where the Los Angeles Angels beat the San Francisco Golden Seals 3 to 2.
Los Angeles had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Alou opened up the scoring as he ripping a solo home run (his 3rd of the season). Don Wert was the next batter, but he struck out. One out later, Dick McAuliffe stepped in and he tripled. Tony Conigliaro was up next and he laced a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. San Francisco had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The winning pitcher was Bob Miller(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Don McMahon gained credit for his 1st save. Bob Humphreys(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
