In a good matchup it was the Manchester Minutemen 8, the Boston Beaneaters 6
at Fenway Park.
Nate Colbert had a good day at the plate.  He doubled scoring two baserunners
in the 1st inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 2nd of the season) in the 3rd
inning and doubled in the 5th inning.  Manchester rapped out 12 hits for the
afternoon.  
The victory went to Tom Griffin(1-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 5 runs. Mike
Paul was credited with his 2nd save.  Gene Brabender(0-1) suffered the loss.
He was knocked around by Manchester, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.  
'He gutted it out' Chuck Carline said of Griffin.  'I was very impressed by
his tenacity.'
