In an exciting finish the San Francisco Golden Seals pulled out a win over the
Springfield Bulls by a score of 7 to 6 at Dimaggio Field.
San Francisco scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  Curt Motton reached
on an error.  Willie McCovey stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.
Dick Dietz then drew a walk to load the bases.  John Callison stepped in and
he smacked a single making San Francisco the winners and sending the 41,589
fans home happy.  It was roller coaster of a game as the lead change hands 5 times.  
Dave Baldwin(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Pete
Richert(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.
