Center fielder Reggie Smith cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Chicago River
Dogs beat the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 8 to 3.
Chicago came up with 4 runs in the 5th inning when they had 3 base hits.  The
key offensive moment was provided by Cleon Jones who brought a roar from the
partisan Wrigley Field fans when he tripled plating three runs.  Chicago
finished with 11 hits while Baltimore ended up with 4.  
The win went to Jim Nash(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Bill
