WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Hank Aaron robbed Joe Pepitone of a Homerun!
Hank Aaron had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the
Albuquerque Dukes 9 to 8 at Chase Field.
Aaron provided the offensive punch. He blasted a solo shot in the 1st inning,
lined a base-hit which plated a run in the 3rd inning, doubled resulting in a
run in the 6th inning and banged out a single knocking in a run in the 8th
inning. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was
still not enough for Albuquerque to come away with the victory.
The winning pitcher was Don McMahon(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Claude Osteen(0-2) was given the loss. He was knocked around by Los Angeles,
allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
