In a good matchup it was the Albuquerque Dukes 4, the Los Angeles Angels 2 at
Angel Stadium.
Albuquerque brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 2nd inning. The
key at-bat was by Dal Maxvill who silenced the stadium when he doubled
plating two runs. Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but Albuquerque was able
to put down the rally.
The winning pitcher was Claude Osteen(1-2) who allowed 1 run in 5 innings.
Milt Pappas earned the save, his 1st. Steve Blass(1-1) was the loser.
'He gutted it out' John O'Donnell said of Osteen. 'I was very impressed by
his tenacity.'
