Johnny Briggs slammed 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI at Illini Reservation where the
Springfield Bulls beat the Wyoming Pioneers by the score of 12 to 4.
It seemed that Wyoming pitching was serving up softballs for Briggs to hit.
He doubled emptying the bases in the 3rd inning, smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 5th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 6th inning.
Springfield had 12 hits for the game and Wyoming had 9.
Clay Kirby(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Gaylord Perry
took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings.
Briggs was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball
real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off.
That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
