Richie Hebner had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Bill Wilson closed the door on
Wyoming at Metropolitan Stadium as the Springfield Bulls beat the Wyoming
Pioneers 7 to 6.
Bart Johnson(1-0) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He
surrendered 6 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings. Springfield totaled 9 hits on
the afternoon.
Wilson gained credit for his 1st save. Gaylord Perry(0-2) took the loss. He
gave up 6 runs in 5 innings of work. 'I always am most impressed when a
pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Mike Rescigno said
after the game. 'Johnson did not have command of his pitches most of the
afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
