45,604 fans were treated to a fine game at Baltimore Park as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Springfield Bulls won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Springfield came up with 2 runs in the 7th inning. The big moment was provided by Gene Clines who silenced Baltimore Park as he laced a base-hit which was good for two runs. Baltimore had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Fritz Peterson(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 2 runs. Bill Wilson gained credit for his 1st save. Pat Dobson(0-1) took the loss. He gave up 5 hits and no walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
