36,683 fans watched an exciting game at Metropolitan Stadium.  The Wyoming
Pioneers topped the Sacramento River Cats by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  Wyoming came out on
top in the 12th inning.  Don Buford hit a bases-empty home run making Wyoming
the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Wyoming finished
with 8 hits in the victory.  
Joe Grzenda(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 4 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Sparky Lyle(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
