35,505 fans were treated to a fine game at Metropolitan Stadium as only one
run separated the combatants at game's end.  The Wyoming Pioneers won by the
slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Wyoming came out
the victor in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Don Buford drew a
walk.  One out later, Billy Williams came up and he was walked intentionally.
Lee May then reached on an error making Wyoming the victor and beginning a
joyous home town celebration.  Wyoming rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.
Darold Knowles(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Ted Abernathy(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He allowed no hits and 2
walks in 2/3 of an inning.
