In an entertaining game at Three Rivers Stadium the final score was the
Pittsburgh Pirates 5, the Boston Beaneaters 2.
Pittsburgh drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring one runner using 2 hits. Pittsburgh had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Tom Seaver(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 6 innings. Seaver
got help from Al Fitzmorris who earned his 1st save. Jon Matlack(3-1) ended
up with the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
