Center fielder Garry Maddox hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Boston
Beaneaters defeated the Vancouver Canadians by a score of 7 to 5 at Nat
Bailey Stadium.
The deciding run was scored by Boston in the top of the 8th. After an out was
recorded, Dan Driessen doubled. Chris Chambliss stepped up to the plate and
he drew a walk. After another out, Ed Brinkman came to bat and drew a walk
to load the bases. Fred Beene then uncorked a wild one that found its way to
the backstop. Boston ended up with 12 hits for the game while Vancouver had 8.
Skip Lockwood(2-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Lockwood
got help from Diego Segui who was credited with his 5th save. Beene(0-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.
