In a good matchup it was the Boston Beaneaters 4, the Portland Beavers 2 at
Fenway Park.
Boston scored all of the necessary runs in the 8th inning when they tallied 4
runs on 4 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Garry Maddox who made the
crowd happy when he doubled scoring two baserunners.  Boston totaled 7 hits
on the night.  
The win was credited to Skip Lockwood(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Diego Segui earned his 2nd save.  The loss was charged to Charlie
Hough(0-1) in relief.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 2 hits and
no walks.
