WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Garry Maddox robbed Dick McAuliffe of an extra base hit.
Center fielder Garry Maddox had 2 base hits and Diego Segui was strong in
relief for Boston as the Boston Beaneaters beat the Portland Beavers by a
score of 6 to 5.
In the bottom of the 7th inning Boston scored 2 runs. This was the kind of
game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Jim Crawford(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Crawford was helped out by Segui who recorded his 3rd save. Ray Corbin(0-1)
took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings.
