The San Francisco Golden Seals edged the Pittsburgh Pirates in 10 innings at
Dimaggio Field by the score of 5 to 4.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. San Francisco came
out the victor in the 10th inning. Rick Auerbach drew a walk. Bill North
came to the plate and reached on an error. Dave McNally then let a pitch get
away from him making San Francisco victorious to the delight of the the home
town crowd. Pittsburgh had 11 hits in the game while San Francisco had 6,
but San Francisco had the more timely hits.
The win went to Dale Murray(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Ramon
Hernandez(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck
loser, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
