Ed Kranepool had 2 base hits at Xpress Stadium as the Texas Rangers won in
dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Minnesota Xpress by the count of 11 to 9.
Texas had the game winning rally in the 9th inning as they scored 5 runs on 4
base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Don Baylor who quieted
the crowd when he blasted a Grand Slam homerun. Even though they scored in 5
different innings, Minnesota was not able to pull off the win.
Clay Carroll(1-0) allowed 3 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Carroll was helped out by Mike Garman who recorded his 1st save.
Dave Laroche(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was a hard-luck
loser, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
Laroche was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
