Texas found themselves trailing quickly as the Minnesota bats came through in the first inning scoring one runner. After an out was recorded, Roy White laced a single. Rod Carew followed next and he drew a walk. Andy Messersmith then unleashed a wild pitch. Greg Luzinski followed and he would ground out. Minnesota had a total of 8 hits for the game.
