At Dimaggio Field, the San Francisco faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's duel. John Montefusco(2-0) finally bested his San Francisco counterpart, J.R. Richard(0-2), by the score of 3 to 0.
Cleveland did all of it's offensive work in the 3rd inning when they tallied 3 runs on 1 hit. That early run support was enough for Montefusco and Cleveland. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
Rollie Fingers earned the save, his 1st. Richard was the loser. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
