TEAM RISP- Redbirds: 1 for 5 Beavers: 10 for 19
Mike Anderson added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the
bat as the Portland Beavers beat the Columbus Redbirds by a score of 12 to 3.
Anderson helped send the fans home happy. He smacked a single bringing in a
run in the 5th inning and launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand
Slam homerun in the 7th inning. Portland finished with 15 hits while
Columbus ended up with 9.
The victory was credited to Jerry Koosman(1-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. The loss was charged to Steve Carlton(1-1). He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
