Joe Ferguson had 2 base hits at Tiger Stadium where the Portland Beavers beat
the Columbus Redbirds 3 to 1.
Portland did all the necessary damage in the 6th inning when they tallied 3
runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Mike Tyson who
brought a roar from the partisan Tiger Stadium fans when he tripled bringing
home two baserunners. Portland totaled 7 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Tommy John(1-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. John was helped out by Paul Lindblad who recorded his 1st save. Mark
Fidrych(1-2) took the loss.
