Center fielder Garry Maddox had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Minnesota Xpress
outscored the Los Angeles Angels in 11 innings 6 to 5.
The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Minnesota won the hard fought
contest in the 11th inning. Greg Luzinski led off the inning for Minnesota
when he banged out a single. Roy White stepped up next and he stroked a
one-base hit. White then stole second base. Steve Yeager got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Maddox came up to bat and smacked a single
giving Minnesota the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. This
was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The winning pitcher was Joe Kerrigan(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 3 innings. Tom
Underwood(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits
in 1/3 of an inning.
