Ellis Valentine hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Chicago Fire defeated the
Albuquerque Dukes by a score of 8 to 5 at Chase Field.
Chicago scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning scoring 5
runners on 6 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Davey Johnson who
silenced Chase Field as he lofted a three-run bomb.  Chicago managed 13 hits
in their victory.  
The victory was credited to Pete Vuckovich(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing
no runs. Skip Lockwood recorded his 2nd save.  Ray Burris(0-2) was given the
loss in relief.
