Steve Comer blanked Alabama allowing just 2 hits and center fielder Elliott
Maddox hit 2 doubles and had 5 RBI as the Montreal Expos bested the Alabama
Vipers 6 to 0 at Olympic Stadium.
Maddox had a big evening at the plate. He doubled plating three runs in the
6th inning and doubled plating two runs in the 8th inning. Montreal finished
with 8 hits in the victory.
Comer(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Gaylord Perry(0-1) was the loser.
'Comer gave us exactly what we needed tonight.' Steph Paquette said. 'When he
threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his
change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
