TEAM RISP- Vipers: 1 for 10 Expos: 1 for 9
The Alabama Vipers edged the Montreal Expos at Olympic Stadium by the score of 4 to 3.
Alabama scored 2 runs in the decisive 4th inning with the help of 3 hits.
After two outs Frank Taveras jump-started the rally as he lined a one-base
hit. Keith Hernandez came to the plate and banged out a single. Jim Rice then
tripled scoring two teammates. Montreal was out-hit by Alabama, 12 hits to 9.
Ron Guidry(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Terry
Forster recorded the save, his 1st. Vida Blue(1-1) ended up with the loss.
His ERA ballooned from 2.78 to 3.58 as he allowed 4 runs in 5 innings.
'I struggled a bit out there today,' Guidry said, 'but I toughed it out and we
got the win.'
