Shortstop Robin Yount hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Montreal Expos topped
the Alabama Vipers by a score of 11 to 4 at Olympic Stadium.
Montreal drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating 3 runs on 4 base hits. Jerry Royster led off and started the attack
as he laced a base-hit. Royster swiped second base. After an out was
recorded, Steve Kemp then lined a single knocking in a run. Bert Blyleven
then was wild with a pitch. Yount stepped into the box and doubled scoring
one more run. Dan Driessen joined his teammates in the uprising and ripped a
single, and an error was also committed, scoring the final run of the inning.
Montreal finished with 11 hits while Alabama ended up with 7.
Jerry Reuss(2-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ron
Schueler got the save, his 1st. Blyleven(0-2) was given the loss.
