Reggie Jackson slammed a homerun at Comiskey Park as the Chicago Fire won a thriller over the Texas Rangers in, 2 to 1.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Ellis Valentine doubled. Chris Chambliss stepped into the batter's box and he was walked intentionally. After another out, Greg Pryor then stroked a base-hit giving Chicago the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Although they lost, Texas did out-hit Chicago 10 to 7.
Bill Castro(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Ed Farmer(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
