Fred Lynn smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and David Palmer allowed Mike Davis to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Arlington Stadium where the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago Fire by the score of 4 to 3.
The Texas fans enjoyed the offense provided by Lynn. He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 1st inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning. Texas had a total of 10 hits for the game.
The victory was credited to Palmer(1-1) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs. Joe Niekro(0-2) was the loser. He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 9 hits and 1 walk.
