Steve Carlton recorded a complete game shutout and Champ Summers ripped 2
homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Columbus Redbirds man-handled the Portland
Beavers - the final score was 10 to 0.
Summers provided much of the offense.  He lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run in the 1st inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 8th inning.
Columbus had 14 hits for the afternoon.  
Carlton(2-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Silvio
Martinez(0-1) was charged with the loss.  Columbus scored big getting 6 runs
off him in 3 innings.
