One run was the difference at Arlington Stadium as the Erie Seawolves defeated
the Texas Rangers 5 to 4.
Erie jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2 runs
on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by George Hendrick who deflated
the crowd as he banged out a single which was good for two runs. Texas had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Mike Norris(3-0) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Bruce
Sutter gained credit for his 2nd save. The losing pitcher was Bob Welch(0-1).
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Norris said.
