Rick Langford allowed Mike Davis to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Texas Rangers defeated the Erie Seawolves 3 to 2 at Erie Park.
Texas started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first plating one baserunner. Mike Hargrove single-handedly provided a rally, as he belted a solo home run. Erie made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Langford(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Jim Clancy(1-1) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up only 3 hits and 2 walks.
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said George Amrhein 'But we have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
