TEAM RISP- Seawolves: 10 for 19 Kings: 2 for 12
WEB GEMS- Bot 8th: Bill Russell robbed Jose Cruz of a base hit.
Mike Schmidt had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Queens Kings were badly beaten by the
Erie Seawolves, 21 to 6.
Schmidt was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He ripped a base-hit in the 6th
inning, stroked a single which brought home a run in the 7th inning, popped a
two-run clout over the fence in the 9th inning and doubled plating two runs
in the 9th inning. Erie bats were hot in the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 4
hits and the 9th inning which saw them score 9 runs on 9 hits. Erie kept the
pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Jim Clancy(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3
runs. Mike Flanagan(0-1) was charged with the loss. Erie scored big getting
7 runs off him in 4 and 1/3 innings.
