Jim Morrison hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Manchester Park as the Chicago Fire
came back dramatically to top the Manchester Minutemen by the score of 5 to 4.
Chicago came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3
runs using 4 hits. Dave Winfield led off and he ripped a base-hit. Otto
Velez struck out, unable to help the rally. Reggie Jackson then smacked a
single. Joe Ferguson followed and he smacked a three-run homer. Chicago
finished with 7 hits in the victory.
The win went to Bill Castro(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Castro was
helped out by Tippy Martinez who recorded his 1st save. Kent Tekulve(0-1)
took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 4 hits in 1 inning.
Chuck Carline was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Matt Dzurisin will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
