The San Francisco Golden Seals bested the Seattle Red Barons by a 5 to 2 score
at Shea Stadium.
San Francisco came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits.  Joel Youngblood led off and got things going when he
lashed a single.  Steve Henderson came to the plate and delivered a one-base
hit.  Henderson took second on the throw.  Joe Nolan then laced a base-hit
bringing in two baserunners.  Nolan took second on the throw.  Dave McKay
stepped in and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Dave Collins came up to bat
and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning.  San Francisco
had 11 hits for the night while Seattle had 7.  
The victory was credited to Ron Davis(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Bob Owchinko(0-1) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 3 runs and 3
hits without retiring a batter.
