Queens came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using 4 hits. Larry Biittner opened up the inning nicely when he was hit by a pitch. Ben Oglivie stepped up to the plate and he popped a two-run clout over the fence. Tim Foli then banged out a single. Lee Lacy followed and he doubled. Willie McGee stepped into the box and slapped a base-hit making Queens the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Queens ended up with 14 hits for the game while Seattle had 8. Mike Armstrong(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Jim Kern(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Jose Cruz noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
