Far more drama in this one as 36 of the eligible 50 players make an appearance.
John Candelaria for Queens and Dennis Martinez for Great Lakes hooked up in this
one. After three frames neither team could get a run across. But in the fourth,
Queens exploded for five runs, behind a 3-run Carlton Fisk homer just inside the
right field pole.

But Great Lakes would answer with four runs in the bottom of the frame to keep
the game close. The game stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when
Great Lakes plated a pair to take the lead.

After a scoreless eighth, Lee Smith was called upon to save the game. But Queens
was able to scrape across a run on Jerry Hairston pinch hit sac fly to tie the game.

Andrew Wiggins led off the ninth with a single. Queens held him close and Damaso
Garcia couldn't bunt him over, but Wiggins got to second on the fielders choice.
Defensive wiz Juan Beniquez came up and delivered the game winning single to send
the Whitecaps' fans home thrilled with the 7-6 win. Lee Smith got the win while
Joey McGlaughlin took the tough luck loss.
