Great Lakes plated a pair in the second inning off of Greg Zahn to take an early lead.
The Whitecaps added two more runs along the way to lead 4-0 midway through the fifth.
But Wille McGee gave the home crowd a jolt with a two run homer to cut the lead to 4-2.
Then in the bottom of the sixth, Jose Cruz plated another run with a single to end Vida
Blue's night. But the Whitecaps answered with a run in both the eight and the ninth, and
Lee Smith game on to earn his second save of the series for the 6-3 win.
