run separated the combatants at game's end.  The San Francisco Golden Seals
won by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings.  San Francisco won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Bobby
Grich laced a base-hit.  George Brett was next and he doubled scoring the
run.  San Francisco had 9 hits overall, while Pittsburgh had 6.  
The win went to Chris Codiroli(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Codiroli got relief help from Ron Davis who gained credit for his 1st save.
Dan Quisenberry(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
