TEAM RISP- Whitecaps: 4 for 15 Banditos: 2 for 8
Robin Yount had 3 base hits and 4 RBI at Tempe Stadium where the Great Lakes
Whitecaps beat the Tempe Banditos 11 to 5.
Great Lakes jumped on top to stay in the top of the 3rd inning with 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Buddy Bell started the inning off right when he laced
a single. Bob Boone came to the plate and lined a base-hit. After an out
was recorded, Alan Wiggins then drew a walk to load the bases. Damaso Garcia
was up next and he drew a walk knocking in a run. A balk was called scoring
another baseruner. Yount was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Alejandro
Pena then fired a sharp breaking ball that appeared to cross-up the catcher
In any event, it got by him and was ruled a passed ball scoring the final run
of the inning. Great Lakes finished with 13 hits while Tempe ended up with 8.
The win was credited to Storm Davis(1-1) who went 6 innings allowing 4 runs.
Pena(0-1) was the loser. He was knocked around by Great Lakes, allowing 6
hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
