Keith Moreland smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at The Shipyard as the Tempe
Banditos won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Great Lakes
Whitecaps by the count of 11 to 8.
Tempe had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they scored
6 runs on 5 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Moreland who silenced
the crowd when he belted a three-run homer. Tempe had 15 hits for the night.
Larry McWilliams(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Jesse Orosco earned the save, his 3rd. Lee Smith(1-4) took the loss in relief.
Tempe's manager was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
