38,197 fans watched an exciting game at Shea Stadium. The San Francisco
Golden Seals topped the Seattle Red Barons by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
In the top of the 7th inning San Francisco scored 1 run. Seattle had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short. Dave Smith got credit for the victory,
pitching 2/3 of an inning and allowing no runs. Smith was helped out by Ron Davis
who recorded his 1st save. Pat Zachry was hit with the loss in relief.
'This was a tough loss,' said Paolo Passarello, 'the kind that sticks with you
for awhile.'
