WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Dwight Evans robbed Denny Walling of an extra base hit.
Left fielder Kirk Gibson ripped a bases loaded blast and John Butcher allowed
Scott Katzenmeyer to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the
Cleveland Buckeyes defeated the Baltimore Orioles 9 to 3 at Memorial Stadium.
Gibson had a big day against Baltimore. He delivered a one-base hit in the
1st inning, cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 3rd inning and
slapped a base-hit in the 5th inning. Cleveland managed 13 hits in their victory.
The win went to Butcher who allowed 3 runs in the game. Ron Guidry was tagged
with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
