Third baseman Ron Cey knocked 2 homeruns and Mike Witt blanked Erie allowing just 3 hits at Angel Stadium where the Los Angeles Angels beat the Erie Seawolves 6 to 0.
Witt(1-0) was simply too much for the Erie batters. He allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Los Angeles rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.
Jim Clancy ended up with the loss. 'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' George Amrhein said. Witt pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'
