The Tempe Banditos bested the Erie Seawolves by a 7 to 3 score at Tempe Stadium.
Erie fell behind quickly as the Tempe offense came through in the first inning
scoring 3 runs using 3 hits. Tim Raines led off and keyed the rally when he
doubled. Tom Herr came next and he drew a walk.  Two outs later Alan Ashby
stepped up to the plate and he doubled which was good for two runs.  Ron Roenicke
followed and he drew a walk. Lee Mazzilli came up to bat and banged out a single
scoring the final run of the inning. Overall Tempe out-hit Erie 9 to 6.  
Dan Petry got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Rick Sutcliffe
was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings.
