At Tempe Stadium, the Tempe faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel.  Mario Soto(2-0) finally bested his Cleveland counterpart, Bill
Gullickson(0-1), by the score of 3 to 0.
Soto was solid in the win.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and 4 walks in
8 and 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 3.86 to 1.72.  Cleveland was out-hit
by Tempe, 8 hits to 4.  
Bob James recorded the save, his 2nd.  Gullickson was given the loss.  He gave
up 3 runs and 8 hits in 7 innings.
