WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Kirk Gibson robbed Phil Bradley of an extra base hit.
Kirk Gibson hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Cleveland Buckeyes
staged a dramatic comeback over the Winter Haven Hamsters by a score of 6 to
5 at Municipal Stadium.
Cleveland won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2 base
hits. Dwight Evans led off and got things going when he slapped a one-base
hit. Gibson stepped up to the plate and he lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run giving Cleveland the win as 38,732 happy fans joyfully
celebrated. Cleveland had a total of 11 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Scott Sanderson(2-1) who went 1 inning allowing no
runs. Gene Nelson(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
'That was exciting!,' Gibson said. 'I would have paid money to watch this one.'
